Robosoft 2023

The 6th IEEE-RAS International Conference on Soft Robotics (RoboSoft 2023) was held in Singapore, bringing together experts and researchers from around the world to share their latest findings and ideas on this rapidly developing field.  SRL were represented by Professor Perla Maiolino, Professor Liang He, and Ollie Shorthose. Ollie presented a poster on his accepted paper. His paper "EDAMS:An Encoder-Decoder Architecture for Multi-grasp Soft Sensing Object Recognition" on applying a soft robotic hand to tactile object identification. Liang also presented his paper "Design Optimization for Bellow Soft Pneumatic Actuators in Shape-Matching". Both papers can be found within our Publications section. The conference provided a valuable opportunity for attendees to exchange knowledge and ideas on the latest advancements in soft robotics. In addition to the poster presentations, there were also workshops and panel discussions covering topics such as the challenges of integrating soft robots into real-world environments and the ethical considerations surrounding the use of robots in healthcare. Overall, the Soft Robotics Conference was a resounding success, bringing together leading experts in the field and showcasing some of the exciting research that is being done in this area. The event was a testament to the importance of continued investment in soft robotics research, which has the potential to revolutionize a wide range of industries, from healthcare to manufacturing.
