Biography
Tom joined the ORI as a DPhil student in 2020 at Magdalen College. He is jointly supervised
by Nick Hawes as part of the GOALS lab, Ana Namburete at the Institute of Biomedical
Engineering and Sir Michael Brady at Perspectum Ltd.
His research is on applying magnetic resonance imaging and machine learning methodology
to study multi-organ dysfunction in patients with type-2 diabetes. Understanding the
underlying casual processes behind type 2 diabetes pathophysiology will allow for improved
personalised patient care and pharmacological development.
Tom is a fellow of the Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851 and Associate Clinical
Scientist at Perspectum Ltd.
Outside of academia, Tom enjoys competing in Ironman triathlons and spending time with
his Golden Retriever, Wilson.
