Shaohong is passionate about creating robots that can be of service to people. He joined the ORI in 2021 as a DPhil student at New College, supervised by Prof Ingmar Posner and Prof Perla Maiolino. His current research focuses on object-centric generative models for vision and high-density tactile information, and he is keen to explore the tactile modality for successful robotics action and interaction.
Shaohong completed his undergraduate at Balliol College, University of Oxford and obtained a Master of Engineering degree. Previously, he worked on robot manipulation through planning in latent space, cough detection with convolutional neural networks, and the application of natural language processing in systems engineering.
