Ningzhe joined ORI in 2022 as a DPhil student at Exeter College under the supervision of Prof. Perla Maiolino. He received his BEng degree in Mechatronic Engineering from the University of Manchester and MSc degree in Human and Biological Robotics from Imperial College London. He worked on the design and simulation of a soft fish robot that is capable of swimming along 3D trajectory for his undergraduate final project, and designed a multi-DoF origami electrostatic actuator for his master thesis. He also previously worked as Research Assistant at Peking University, where his research focus was soft grasping.
His current research focuses on robotic learning through sensing technology, especially tool-mediated sensing for surgical applications.
