John earned a BSc in Mechatronic Engineering in Hong Kong and an MSc in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Manchester.
He then went on to pursue a PhD, focusing on the dynamics and energy efficiency of jumping systems, also at Manchester.
Prior to joining ORI in 2024, he was a research associate in space robotics and worked on several ESA and UKSA projects.
He has expertise in general mechanical and electronic hardware design, with a particular enthusiasm for linkage and bio-inspired design.
Outside of work, he enjoys baking and is a noob car enthusiast.
