Ellis Capp

Student - SRL

Ellis joined the ORI in October 2023 as a DPhil student from Lincoln College, supervised by Professor Perla Maiolino in the Soft Robotics Lab.

He took his MEng degree from the University of Oxford (also in Lincoln College), with a focus on mechanical and control engineering. For his master’s project, he modelled and implemented torque vectoring algorithms on Oxford Uni Racing’s Formula Student vehicle, where he developed a keen interest in embedded systems.

His research is on using additive manufacturing to embed distributed sensing systems into soft robots to allow them to execute accurate, precise control even in unstructured environments.

He uses his spare time to work on cars, row for his college, and play the piano.
