Tasha Kim

DPhil Student - PNPL & SRL

Tasha joined the Oxford Robotics Institute (ORI) in 2025 as a DPhil student in Engineering Science, supervised by Dr. Oiwi Parker Jones within the Neural Processing Lab (PNPL) and Prof. Perla Maiolino within the Soft Robotics Lab (SRL). Tasha’s research focuses on bridging brain function with robotic reasoning and manipulation, such as developing neuro-symbolic systems that interpret brain and behavior signals to guide robot execution, enabling robots to act as collaborative or augmentative partners to humans.

Before joining Oxford, Tasha completed her B.S. in Mathematics and Computer Science at Brown University and M.S. in Computational and Mathematical Engineering at Stanford University, where she conducted research at the Stanford AI Lab (SAIL) and the Stanford Institute for Human-Centered AI (HAI). Her prior work spans neural processing, human-robot interaction, neuro-symbolic AI, and multi-agent systems.

Previously, Tasha served as an Executive Leader of the Stanford AI Alignment initiative and as a software engineer for Google, working at the intersection of large-scale software and hardware learning systems.

Outside of research, she enjoys running and strength training, exploring cities and their food scenes, and spending time with dogs.
