Biography
Mike joined the ORI in 2026 as a DPhil student on the Autonomous Intelligent Machines and Systems (AIMS) CDT, and works with the Human Enhancing and Augmenting Technology (HEAT) Lab supervised by Prof Digby Chappell. His research explores how humans interact with automated systems.
Prior to joining Oxford he graduated with an MEng in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bristol in 2024, where he was awarded the Bechtel Industrial Prize. His prior work includes modelling high-speed bicycle chain dynamics, developing low-cost optical processing algorithms, and replicating haptic perceptions of objects, having also worked as a trainee patent attorney and interned at a company producing wireless load sensors for racing yachts.
