Marco Pontin joined the ORI in 2023 as a postdoctoral researcher in the Soft Robotics Lab, under the supervision of Prof. Perla Maiolino.
Before joining the institute, he was a PhD student in the Biomedical Robotics Lab at the University of Sheffield, under the supervision of Prof. Dana Damian. During his PhD, Marco researched soft robotics resilience and developed a multimodal soft valve capable of autonomously detecting and isolating faults in soft pneumatic actuators.
His current research interests include soft robotics, robotic resilience and embodied intelligence.
