Charlotte is a student on the NERC DTP in Environmental Research and joined GOALS in 2024. She is supervised by Nick Hawes and Helen Johnson (Physical Oceanography) and spends some of her time in the Earth Sciences department.
Charlotte's research focuses on developing and implementing autonomous decision-making for underwater gliders, with a focus on oceanography-informed methods for finding and measuring temperature anomalies.
Before joining GOALS, Charlotte completed her undergraduate degree in Mathematics and Computer Engineering at Queen's University in Kingston, Canada. Partway through her bachelor's, she interned for 1.5 years at a satellite company (GHGSat) in Montreal, Canada, working on software for measuring methane emissions from satellites.
