Biography

Charlie was a DPhil student in Engineering Science, where he was a member of Pembroke College. Charlie joined the ORI in October 2018 as a member of the GOALS (Goal-Oriented Autonomous Long-Lived Systems) group, with his research looking into “Multi-robot planning to exploit long-term knowledge in an everyday environment”. Charlie’s DPhil was supervised by Prof. Nick Hawes with the Dr.-Ing. Manuel Mühlig at the Honda Research Institute.
In 2018 Charlie graduated from the University of Birmingham with an MSci in Computer Science, having studied there since 2014. As part of his master’s degree, he carried out research into systems capable of on-line musical improvisation in real time under the supervision of Prof. Peter Tino.
Outside of academia, Charlie enjoyed playing music and was also a very keen watcher of films.
