Martim is a Postdoc at the DRS group working with Dr Ioannis Havoutis on motion planning with contact, particularly for legged robot locomotion over varied terrain. He is interested in hierarchical planning, optimisation, search, vision and interdisciplinary approaches.
He did his PhD in Japan on humanoid locomotion planning. He has also worked on vision: friction estimation from vision using CNNs, occupancy grid mapping, stereo confidence measures.
And finally he is also interested in social impacts and ethics in robotics.
