On Wednesday 17th of October, we, ORI hosted a short visit by a group of Italian students on an Erasmus programme. Their area of study is computer science, mechatronics and automation, cloud computing and virtualisation at the Istituto Tecnico Tecnologico G. Marconi in Rovereto (Italy) and they were extremely eager to learn more about our Institute.
During the afternoon, Letizia Marchegiani and Daniele De Martini guided the students through a presentation, which focused on some open challenges in robotics, our work at ORI to address them, and the variety of platforms we use. After theory, came practise: with the help of Dr Maurice Fallon and Simona Nobili, the students could attend a live demo of ANYmal and then have a tour of the garage to get a first-hand experience of our technology.
Thanks again to everyone who helped out to make their visit a really interesting trip into robotics!
Kind thank you from Carmel Engin
Organiser of visit from The Lake School of English Oxford
“I’m writing to say a huge thank you for the stimulating presentations, talks and demonstrations that you gave to our IIT Marconi students earlier this week.
Daniela and Giorgio, the teachers, were very impressed with your facilities and programmes, and were delighted that the students engaged so well.
The students’ feedback was great: ‘Very interesting’, ‘Very impressive departments’, ‘I’d love to study at Oxford Robotics Institute’, ‘The lecturers were really cool!’, ‘Incredible!”
