We are seeking a full-time Departmental Lecturer in Robotics to join Oxford Robotics Institute at the Department of Engineering Science (central Oxford). The post is funded by EU, EPSRC and Industrial funding and is fixed-term for 5 years.
The main research focus of the role is to lead a team of PDRAs and DPhil students within Oxford Robotics Institute in developing robotics technologies. The postholder will engage in advanced study and academic research, to lecture and teach undergraduate and graduate students, and contribute to the teaching, research, and academic administration of the Department. He/she will lead independent research projects or specific areas of research within a broad programme.
As well as supervising the work of the other team members and managing some of these projects, this job involves helping developing the long-term vision for robotics and autonomous system, asking new research questions and providing both thought and technical leadership.
We encourage applicants with a strong background in AI areas of Knowledge Representation and Reasoning, Inference, and Semantic Modelling who can combine these fundamental, symbolic AI methods with modern approaches in Machine Learning/Intelligence in the context of Robot Perception. Strong candidates will also have substantial and proven experience in deploying these AI-based methods on robot systems in real-world applications at scale. Applicants should hold a relevant PhD/DPhil.
