Martin joined MRG in 2015 after completing his undergraduate studies at Somerville College. He is still a member of Somerville where he has done some teaching for first and second year undergraduates.

Martin is supervised by Ingmar Posner and his research focuses on the application of deep neural networks in robot perception and planning. Current areas of interest include real-time object detection in 2D image and 3D laser data.

Martin has spent time as an intern at the Max-Planck-Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in the Department of NanoBiophotonics, at the Business Technology Office of McKinsey & Co, and at Infosys Ltd in Pune, India. Most recently, he completed an internship at Facebook AI Research in Paris where he worked with Benjamin Graham and Laurens van der Maaten on 3D segmentation.

Martin enjoys participating in hackathons – successes include winning the first prize at HackTrain 2015 and the Apple Award at HackZurich 2014.
