Postdoctoral Research Assistants

The Oxford Robotics Institute (ORI) is seeking up to two full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistants focusing specifically on applied machine learning research at the intersection of mobile robot perception and planning with a view to learning from user demonstration. Your remit will include the research, development and implementation of algorithms for vision- and laser-based perception and scene understanding interwoven with methods from (inverse) reinforcement learning and motion planning.

You should have (or be about to complete) a PhD in robotics, machine learning or computer vision with a track record in applying machine learning methods to problems in perception. Additional experience in motion planning, deep learning and/or reinforcement learning is desirable. Excellent programming skills are essential, as is an ability to, and experience in, developing a field robotics system as well as the planning and execution of large-scale data collection experiments. Ability to work as part of a team, having experience in validation of algorithms, using vast amounts of real data, and the ability to work to deadlines are also essential.

Robotics Software Engineer

We are seeking a Software Engineer to join the world-leading Oxford Robotics Institute ( at the Department of Engineering Science in central Oxford. The post is full-time and fixed-term until 28 February 2020.

You will be an innovative software engineer, who is excited about the opportunity to bring research ideas in the field of mobile robotics into solutions for real world problems. The institute has a large code base, which supports our robotic research activity. You will maintain and develop this code base and support its application in multiple domains. We are looking for a professional to accelerate the impact of our work into domains such as autonomous cars, factory automation, space exploration and nuclear inspection.
